#80. Time For A Life Snapshot

As different responsibilities keep pulling you in opposite directions, the importance of self-reflection becomes even more important.

Everyone is busy. But, where people start getting into trouble is when they completely ignore one crucial aspect of their life for too long.

Doing such can have disastrous effects on your health, family, and/or finances.

The Importance Of "Honest" Reflection

Honest reflection forces you to come face to face with how you are living your life.

This will lead to many different types of emotions, and the stronger the emotions, the more likely you are to make lasting changes.

I encourage everyone to do the following on their own, so you can visually see whether you are living the life you want or not.

I am only going to include an honest but small portion of my current life snapshot for illustration purposes. I went into a lot more details in my private life snapshot, and I suggest you go into as many details as you can as well.

Time For My Life Snapshot

Physical Health

  • ~ 20 lbs overweight (totally fixable)

  • Exercising only through coaching at football practice

  • Diet is not where it needs to be

Mental Health

  • Stress levels seem to be increasing

  • Self-doubt seems to be as prevalent as ever!

  • I am not spending enough time meditating

Work

  • I am not dreading going to work every day

  • I have been able to get a lot of work done during normal 9-5 hours

  • I seem to have found a good work/life balance (hope my wife agrees!)

Family

  • I could still be present more (physically and mentally)

Finances

  • Investing goals: We are still investing +25% of gross income monthly (Rock on!!)

  • I am thinking about ways to monetize this website, so I can write and coach football full-time while law becomes my part-time job.

  • Most importantly: We have plenty of money to keep a shelter over our heads and food on the table :).

Now It's Your Turn

Look at each aspect of your life that you know is important. You may have many other categories than I do, such as religion or spiritual.

I am a big fan of encouraging self-talk, but for this exercise, you must be honest with yourself. If you lie to yourself here, the less likely impactful changes can be made.
