#90. Took A Month Off, But We Are Back To Meal Planning!

The food category is one of the biggest ways to save money. We started paying close attention to our food spending back in December of last year, and we have saved close to $800 a month in this category alone.

This was true until June hit.

What Happened?

Well, nothing really major happened. We seem to keep getting busier, but we definitely still had the time to meal plan (since it actually saves time!)

No matter the cause of us falling off the wagon, my wife and I decided it is time to get back to it.

Our previous goal was $75 a week at the grocery store and a $40 eating-out limit one night a week.

The good news is, after writing out our meals for next week along with our grocery list, we should be under the $75 mark!

Next Week Dinners For Those Interested

Sunday: Frozen pizza (please, don't judge us. Sundays are our lazy days.)

Monday: Fettuccine w/ homemade Spinach Alfredo sauce

Tuesday: Loaded Baked Potatoes w/ roasted broccoli

Wednesday: Stuffed Chicken Parmesan

Thursday: Slow Cooker White Bean Tuscan Soup (find recipe here)

Friday: Mexican Ground Turkey Potato Hash w/ roasted broccoli

Saturday: Eat out and meal plan/grocery shop for next week

Regarding lunches: we eat leftovers the next day for lunch.

There You Have It!

As I said in a previous post, don't confuse failure with the finish line.

No matter how many times you mess up or don't follow through with something, there is NEVER a bad time to better yourself.

Then, if you need help picking yourself back up, reach out to a friend, family member, or a professional.

I was able to say the following words to my dad and law partner the other day, "I am not on top of things, and I am struggling badly."

Simply saying those words out loud helped me tremendously.

We got this.
