#85. Don't Confuse Failure With The Finish Line

I have been writing this blog going on seven months now. Throughout this time, I have religiously posted to Twitter daily to promote my content while also publishing three blog posts a week.

My first legitimate case of writer's block happened last week, which is why I published Monday's blog a day late.

This case of writer's block led me to yesterday where I was left with two options. Only publish two articles this week or power through and put something down on metaphorical paper.

Being overly exhausted, I powered through and hit the publish button Tuesday morning.

Redefine Failure

Failing to do something that you set out to accomplish should not be the endgame.

Failing simply provides you with valuable information moving forward that you can utilize to prevent yourself from making the same mistake twice.

What was my mistake that I can learn from? Thinking I was a machine that could work 12 to 16 hours a day for an extended period of time AND still have the mental bandwidth to write.

Simply being more proactive would have prevented this from happening.

For My Fellow Side Hustlers

There is plenty of time in a day to accomplish everything you want, so do not be discouraged by this post.

However, be kind to yourself and listen to your physical body. Not following through with your plans for a short period of time should not derail your long-term plans.

If you find yourself taking multiple days off in a row, do the following:

  1. Reassess your long-term goals.

  2. Reevaluate your short-term goals.

  3. Make sure they both align.

  4. Get a new plan of action moving forward!

Onward!
