#55. 4 Months into Our 8-Step Journey: Updates, Changes, and a New Venture

Wow! It has been a long time since I have done an official post on my 8-step journey. If you need a refresher, click here to read our 8-step plan to reach our goal in 7 years.

I mainly wanted to provide an update for everyone and to also tease a new possible venture.

Updates and a New Venture

Since I posted our 8-step plan four months ago on December 2, 2022, our lives have changed in the following ways:

One. My wife has started making legitimate efforts to open up her bridal shop. This is a passion project of hers, but we still hope to generate profit with her shop at some point. You can check out her website at brynnsccbridal.com and make sure to follow her on social media as well!

Two. My wife and her former teaching partner (if you did not know, my wife is a kindergarten teacher) announced yesterday that they are launching their wedding and event planning business! You can check out their website at bkplans.com and make sure to follow them on social media too!

Three. I became a high school head football coach. This was NOT a way to make money. This was actually one of my goals once I reached financial independence after 7 years. During "retirement", I would love to write and coach football full-time. However, an opening became available, and I felt compelled to try.

Four. We have changed our rental property plans. We have one vacant commercial office space with 3 individual offices. We were originally trying to rent out the entire space. Now, we have decided to rent out each individual office space separately. We have not had much luck with renters, but hopefully, this strategy shift will help that.

Five. And here comes the tease. I plan to launch a new venture within the next couple of weeks. I will publish a post on it when I do, and you will see a new tab option on the home page. This new venture is a passion project that I feel compelled to pursue. It may not amount to anything, but I would kick myself if I did not try.

The Impact of Living Consciously

It is AMAZING how much life happens when you change from going through the motions towards living consciously. Step 4 is all about figuring out ways to make money, and we are starting to make headway in this arena (mainly my wife :-) ).

Normally, in a span of 4 months prior to starting The Sytch, life would have looked identical from one end to the other. However, the more conscious you live your life, the more you realize what you truly want out of life.

By taking this approach, we are saving money at a much faster rate than before, and we are doing more things that make us happy. If I was not on this journey, I would have passed up the head coaching job and regretted it immensely.

If there is only one thing you take away from this post, my advice is to start living more consciously right now. Figure out what you want out of life and start living with a purpose.

There is one caveat though - be open to your priorities changing over time. Your purpose today may not be your purpose next year. Reexamine your priorities often and make sure your decisions today are in line with your long-term goals.
